- Planting Trees for CO2 Reduction: To actively reduce its carbon footprint and compensate for emissions, D-side has already planted more than 2,500 treesFurthermore, as part of their community engagement (“We Care” program), they actively supportGraine de vie, an organization dedicated to afforestation.
- Greening the City & Reducing Local Warming: A perfect real-world example of beautifying the city and reducing the “heat island” effect is the transformation of the Event Lounge, one of D-side’s key venues. The group collaborated with Belgian landscape architect Michel Delvosalle to transform a highly mineral, asphalt-covered parking area into a living, green, and calming space. By literally cutting through the asphalt to plant trees and greenery right up to the venue’s terraces, they proved that even the most urban spaces can be reinvented and re-greened.
These urban greening and tree-planting efforts, combined with the installation of over 2,000 solar panels on their venue roofs and a strict hybrid/electric mobility policy, are key reasons why D-side holds the SHIFT-Impact Brussels certification and several eco-labels (like Green Key and Eco Dynamic)
